ZIMBABWE’S PRESIDENT ROBERT MUGABE has declared the late Mbuya Maud Muzenda ,a national heroine.
The late wife of the former Zimbabwe Vice President Simon Muzenda has been declared a national heroine by Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe.
Mbuya Muzenda died on Tuesday at the Avenues Clinic in Harare at the age of 88 and mourners are gathered at the Muzenda homestead in Chisipite, Harare.
Mbuya Maud Muzenda’s body will be driven to the Muzenda homestead in Gutu today and then transported to Harare tomorrow for burial at the National Heroes Acre on Saturday.
newzimbabwevision would like to add that, the late former vice president Simon Muzenda a carpenter by training married his wife Maud, a nurse, then moved to the Mvuma in 1955 and eventually became administrative secretary Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) was then imprisoned by Rhodesia security for his political activism and being imprisoned in for two years.
Muzenda was arrested again in 1964, for possession of a pistol .
Muzenda felt the only way to unseat the white colonial Rhodesia regime was through armed revolution, and went on to recruit black youths for military training in Africa, Soviet Union and China but was arrested jailed again until the Anglo-Rhodesia agreement in 1971.
On release from prison Simon Muzenda went into exile initially in Zambia, and then he later moved to Mozambique and he in 1980 at independance became the Zimbabwe Republic deputy prime minister and foreign minister and then In 1987, Mugabe became executive president, while Simon Muzenda was his first vice-president. For him to have managed to have lived through this turbulent liberation war time history, he had the backing of a strong woman as a wife and mother to his children, the late Maud Muzenda.
Her contribution to the nation was massive by giving the opportunity and support to do all he did for Zimbabwe’s liberation and post independance contribution. She therefore will take a well deserved final resting place at the National Heroes Acre on Saturday 26/08/2017 beside her late husband, VP Simon Muzenda.
For people to appreciate the value of a partners contribution in their partners life, simply compare this with Grace Marufu Mugabe and President Robert Gabriel Mugabe or Grace with the late Sally Haffron. Only Grace Mugabe has been heartless enough to the people of Zimbabwe, stripping them of wealth, employment , accommodation and shelter, mines and Mazoe dam, US$35 billion, diamonds, Manzou and Arnold farms and Mazoe dam, now US$1 billion dollar for Mugabe university, R45 million mansion in South Africa, US$billions in off shore accounts and the middle East, the list is endless, while Zimbabweans go hungry, jobless, homeless, without medicine, medical facilities or schools, and assaulting a 20 year old model in South Africa almost removing her eye…and you are proud to say First Lady of Zimbabwe,…really?
In my book one has to look at a partners contribution in a relationship for them to appreciate their importance and thats the reason why we all have to apply common sense to Maud Muzenda’s heroine status, she deserves it, as for Grace Mugabe,…hmmn,..no comment!
